How exactly is the reading time calculated?
Our system analyzes text phonetically. This means we convert numbers and dates into words and expand abbreviations before calculating, resulting in a much more accurate estimate than simple word counters.
Which tags does script mode support?
The calculator automatically ignores role labels such as V1-V5, CH1-CH5, VO1-VO5 and any text within square brackets. This allows you to paste scripts with director notes without manual cleaning.
How many words per minute does a narrator read?
The average pace is 130-150 words per minute. On Readtime.pl, you can choose from three speed levels to match the estimation to your specific recording needs.
Is my text safe with you?
Yes. The time calculation process is entirely local. However, if you choose to generate audio, the content of that text is sent to our server to create an MP3 file, which is saved there so you can listen to and download it.
Can I paste text directly from Word or Google Docs?
